Father God, I come to you humbly. Religion does not save or heal us. It is only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that saves and heals. I ask You to lead me in this time of prayer and restore my heart into alignment with Yours. Show me any area where I need to detox my heart or life from religious programming or my own sin to make more room for Your Spirit to move through me, into the world around me.
Father God, I repent for:
Being more prideful than humble.
Making performance for You a priority over intimacy with You.
Making church affiliation the source of my value instead of finding my value in my relationship with You.
Serving in the church to prove my worth instead of serving because that’s where You called me.
Caring more about what others think than what You think.
Judging the spirituality of others by their outward appearance instead of seeing their heart.
Using shame to belittle or manipulate others when they sin.
Showing partiality to anyone because of race, sex, socioeconomic status, education, or beauty.
Making idols of my church denomination, leaders, worship, or any other program.
Giving time, money, or other resources to the church as sacrifices to earn approval from men.
Valuing the numbers of people attending over growing in depth and maturity.
Seeking to control behavior to look spiritual instead of living surrendered to the Holy Spirit.
Being passive in my relationship with You, waiting for You to do something for me instead of actively seeking You.
Being comfortable as a spectator to seeing You move in other people’s lives, instead of engaging with You myself.
Seeking my own self-righteousness instead of daily appropriating Christ’s righteousness.
Jesus thank you that You alone are the sacrifice for my sins. I fully accept Your sacrifice for my sins and receive the fullness of your life in mine. I receive Your forgiveness. Wash me clean from all the defilement of these sins. In You Jesus, I am saved, accepted, redeemed, restored, and secured in my position as Your son or daughter. True religion takes place in the temple of my heart, where I meet with You daily by Your Holy Spirit and worship You through all I say and do in this life, and the one to come. In Jesus name, for His glory, Amen.
